Introduction to Asset Lending

Course Details

Description

EY’s recent 2020 annual private debt market review puts down the growth of asset lending sector to a new market high of A$109bn or around 10% of the overall corporate and business lending market.

Asset Based Lending (ABL) or Asset Lending is defined as any kind of funding to purchase assets for a business. ABL is a concept that originated in the US and has gained momentum in recent years as it helps businesses boost their working capital and grow. ABL is flexible and more cost-effective as compared to traditional cash flow lending.

Traditional finance options have always been the main source of financing for Australian businesses, 99.5% of which are SMEs. Asset-based lending has emerged as a boon for these small and medium businesses enabling them to explore and avail alternative ways of funding. Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (PPSA) also helped asset lending strengthen its roots in the Australian market.

This course has been designed to give learners an overview of asset lending.
